At the age of seven my parents took me to Jones Beach in New York, with friends,
little was I to know this would be the first time I would ever see what a camera was.
I remember this Polaroid, land camera, with it’s peel apart film and its unique smell.
That day at the beach was memorable, it was sunny without a cloud in the sky, the sand
was white and clean and the waves would roll with a crash.
My mother, was wearing a blue and white bathing suit with a matching robe and white hat (1965). I asked our friends with the Polaroid if I could take a picture of my mother.
My mother got up off her towel with hat and cat like sunglasses and struck a pose with her bright red lipstick smile. In that moment that click sound surprised me and I realized,
“once in awhile, I make a wonderful photograph”.
